Apr 28, 2021 - 9:58 AM
Mill Spring, NC – April 27, 2021 – Tryon International Equestrian Center & Resort (TIEC) will welcome the return of spectators beginning May 3 at 40% capacity thanks to a protocol easement in a recent announcement from the U.S. Equestrian Federation (USEF). While TIEC restaurants and shops have been open since May 2020, the venue’s equestrian competitions have been strictly off limits to spectators per the USEF protocol. Beginning May 3, all guests must comply with all COVID-19 regulations in order to enter TIEC, which include:
  • Everyone must wear a mask while on TIEC property unless they are mounted on a horse or actively eating or drinking.
  • Social distancing is required.
  • Temperatures will be taken at the main entrance and individuals without a fever will be allowed to enter.
  • A wristband will be given to each guest at the main entrance to indicate that their temperature has been taken and they are permitted to enter the venue.
  • Occupancy in restaurants and shops will be managed according to mandates by the State of North Carolina.
  • COVID monitors will patrol TIEC to ensure visitor compliance.

“We are so happy to welcome the return of spectators to our competition in a safe manner. We know that our guests have been waiting so patiently for this day to come and we appreciate their ongoing support during such a long time of restrictions,” said Sharon Decker, President of Tryon Equestrian Partners, Carolinas Operations. “More than 12,000 COVID-19 vaccines have been distributed at TIEC to date, and we’re confident that our safety protocols combined with continuing vaccination efforts will allow us to host our community safely.”

Several restaurants and shops are open at TIEC and the complete list, plus information to plan for your visit, can be found at Tryon.com/ThisWeek.

TIEC is also planning for the return of resort events including Saturday Night Lights, which is tentatively scheduled to resume in a limited capacity mid-summer. The venue has already announced additional spectator events planned for this summer including the PBR® Tryon Chute Out on June 25-26 and the Night in the Country Carolinas Music Festival on August 26-28.
“We look forward to seeing more guests at TIEC and kindly ask for everyone’s patience as we transition to a more open venue. We have been extremely diligent about ensuring the safety of all our guests, including our four-legged friends, so that we could continue hosting equestrian competition during the pandemic, and appreciate everyone’s grace with our team in these still uncertain times,” added Decker.
