Mill Spring, NC – July 22, 2019 – Tryon International Equestrian Center (TIEC) at Tryon Resort is pleased to announce the addition of the Blue Ridge Mountain Horse Trials at TIEC to the venue’s competition calendar, hosted September 14-15, 2019 and including two days of national competition from Beginner Novice through Advanced including Modified. All levels will run Cross-Country at the White Oak Course onsite, which was the host of the FEI World Equestrian Games™ (WEG) Tryon 2018 Eventing Cross-Country and Driving Marathon competitions. TIEC has hosted competitions such as the American Eventing Championships and The Fork at TIEC CCI 4*-S, and adds the Blue Ridge Horse Mountain Horse Trials as a permanent fixture on the fall calendar to further expand offerings for the Eventing community.

“We are pleased to add another Eventing competition to our 2019 calendar, continuing our efforts to grow equestrian sport across all disciplines. We strongly believe that giving riders of all levels access to facilities of this caliber is critical to the growth and success of equestrian sport, and we welcome all competitors to compete with us in September,” said Eric Straus, TIEC General Manager of Equine Operations.

Competitors can expect a world-class welcome with eight onsite restaurants, seven barns with 1,200 permanent stalls immediately adjacent to the competition rings, and numerous onsite lodging options available. Saturday, September 14, will feature Intermediate and Advanced Show Jumping competition hosted in Tryon Stadium as part of TIEC’s signature “Saturday Night Lights” event series, with free, family-friendly entertainment and VIP competition dining experiences available. Recent Eventing competitors at TIEC have shared high praise for the White Oak Course, including members of the US Eventing Team heading to the Pan-American Games this July. “It’s a great show and a really good show for the young horses to get them ready. Obviously, I love this place. To me, it’s just one of those brilliant events to come to, with the restaurants and shops here and staying in the cabins on-site,” said Boyd Martin. “It’s just a world-class facility and great exposure for the horses. I think it’s going to help produce top performances in the future as well.”

Lynn Symansky echoed, “This place prepares you so much. Especially for young horses to come see this kind of venue, and the courses and the footing are really good, with jumper classes going on at the same time, so you could even bring young horses or students, too. It really is a fantastic venue for all levels and experience.”

Doug Payne, who frequently competes in both Jumping and Eventing at TIEC, commented on the venue’s educational value for horse and rider alike: “I think it’s just exciting to get a bunch of really nice up-and-coming horses here and to get them exposure, and be able to jump them on roughly the same course as the WEG will be really educational for the horses.”

Erik Duvander, Team USA Eventing Coach, was happy to have his Pan-American Games team competing at TIEC before heading to Lima, Peru, and emphasized, “We are very fortunate to have a venue like Tryon because it has a really good atmosphere, it has very good arenas, and I think the improvements that were done for the [World Equestrian Games™] have made it one of our better Cross-Country courses in the country, so all-in-all it’s a great event.”
