Marion Scott Head Conquers the $10,000 1.40m High Junior/Amateur Classic with Carjo Z at Tryon International Equestrian Center

Mill Spring, NC – May 22, 2019 – Marion Scott Head (Brownsboro, AL) jumped to victory in the $10,000 1.40m High Junior/Amateur Classic with Carjo Z, owned by Scott Head on Sunday, May 19, at Tryon International Equestrian Center (TIEC). The duo dashed through the timers in 81.19 seconds to secure the win on a clear first round. Greer Campbell (Charlotte, NC) took second with her own, Freestyle 3, stopping the timers in 82.946 seconds on four faults. Mallory Vale (Williston, FL) rode to third place with Elusive, owned by Thinks Like A Horse, with a time of 86.55 seconds and seven faults.

Jumper Highlights:
The $5,000 1.40m Nutrena® Open Jumper Stake awarded first place to Taylor Land (Atlanta, GA) with Falco V, owned by Pinetree Farms, Inc., with a time of 44.42 seconds. Land also secured second with a time of 45.188 seconds and four faults riding Get Go, owned by Pinetree Farms, Inc. Katie Brown-Maxwell (Bluffton, SC) rode to third place aboard Touareg, owned by Dana Sparks, with a time of 46.994 seconds on four faults.

In addition, Taylor Land (Atlanta, GA) rode home with champion and reserve champion honors in the 1.40m Nutrena® Open Jumper Division. Land landed the champion title with Falco V and the reserve honors with Get Go, with both owned by Pinetree Farms Inc.

Aaron Vale (Williston, FL) collected champion and reserve champion honors in the 1.30m-1.35m DJS 7-Year-Old Young Jumper Division. Vale took the champion title aboard Highfive, owned by Thinks Like A Horse, and the reserve champion title with Mr. Incredible, owned by Troy Glaus.

In the 1.20m Low Amateur Jumper Division, Renee Gruenthal (Morriston, FL) was honored with the champion title with her own mount, Dollar Du Alme. Cory McLaughlin (Atlanta, GA) claimed reserve honors with her own, Aria.

In the 1.15m Jumper Division, Maryann Charles (Southern Pines, NC) took champion honors with her own, Carlin. Nicky Galligan (Keswick, VA) earned reserve champion honors with Noelle, owned by November Hill.

The 1.10m Adult-Amateur Jumper Division awarded champion honors to Isabelle Blackstone (Monroe, GA) aboard Chasm Z, owned by Madison Akins. Reserve honors went to Maliclaire Glancy (Wilmington, NC) with her own mount, KT Haziana.

The 1.10m Children’s Jumper Division congratulated Katalena Prusso (Woodstock, GA) with top honors aboard her own mount, Camera Ready. Austin Cumming (Madison, GA) was the reserve champion with Westpoint Baros, owned by Lily Bennett.

The $300 1.0m Low Adult-Amateur Jumper Stake congratulated Carrie Carse (Clearwater, FL) with first place with her own mount, Calvetto. Carse secured a time of 33.165 seconds. Dawson Amick (Marvin, NC) rode to second place aboard Clyde 97, owned by Leslie Steele, with a time of 36.016 seconds. Lori Osterstock (Ocala, FL) earned third with her own mount, King Solomon, with a time of 36.843 seconds.

Hunter Highlights:
The $1,500 USHJA Pony Hunter Derby awarded first place to Savannah Welch (Elon, NC) aboard her own, Mapleside Magic Wish. Welch earned a score of 166 to top the derby. Second place went to Kat Fuqua (Atlanta, GA) aboard her own, Prestige with a score of 162. Leigh Ashby (Lincolnton, NC) earned third place with her own, Onyxford’s Blue Magic with a score of 161.

In the $1,000 Green Hunter Challenge 3’/3’3″, Jimmy Torano (Wellington, FL) took first aboard Moonlight, owned by Isalou Inc., scoring a 169.5. Sarah Duhon (Wright City, MO) earned second and third place. For the second place finish, Duhon earned a 167 aboard Nice To Have, owned by Down The Line Equine LLC., and took a 158 with It’s Classified, owned by Gwendolyn McCormick.

Colin Syquia (Wellington, FL) topped the $1,000 Green Hunter Incentive 3’/3’3″ with a score of 85.5 aboard Durant, owned by Eurasia. Geoffrey Hesslink (Shelburne, VT) claimed second with Sovereign, owned by Lindsay Maxwell, with a score of 84.5. Caroline Willard Briles (Oak Ridge, NC) placed third with McHenry, owned by Tara Dow-Rein. Briles secured a score of 84 to take third.

The $1,000 Green Hunter Incentive 3’6″/3’9″ congratulated Holly Shepherd (Grand Bay, AL) with first place riding Jerez Mail, owned by Micaela Kennedy. Shepherd scored an 87 to secure first. Tommi Clark (Tryon, NC) earned second place with Expectation, owned by Stephen Borders, with a score of 83. Holly Shepherd also took third with a score of 82 aboard MTM Making Waves, owned by Mary Antonini.

The $1,000 Junior Hunter Classic 3’3″ granted first place to Kate Mills (Charlotte, NC) aboard Westin, owned by Valentina Timpone with a score of 157. Lindsay Sterne (New York, NY) took second with Imagination, owned by Ariana Marnell. Sterne secured a score of 151.5. Cassidy Rein (Raleigh, NC) earned third place with Baron De Ley, owned, by Tara Dow-Rein. Rein took a score of 151.

In the $1,000 Amateur-Owner Hunter Classic 3’3″/3’6″, Nicole Lyvere (Lakewood, CO) rode home with blue aboard her own, Haribo, with a score of 169. Bergen Sanderford (Santa Rosa Beach, FL) took second with mount, Happenstance with a score of 167.25. Christina Jason Fox (Aiken, SC) placed third with En Tune, owned by Southland Stables, securing a score of 167.

The $1,000 Junior Hunter Classic 3’6″ congratulated Kat Fuqua with first place with her own, Cupido Z. Fuqua put in a score of 169 to secure the win. Erin Floyd (Austin, TX) placed second with Cleopatra’s Smile, owned by Wolfstone Stables & Sales Inc. Floyd received a score of 168. Madison Mitchell (Clarkston, MI) took third with Tybee, owned by Helen Brown. Mitchell earned a score of 165.5.

Savannah Welch (Elon, NC) rode to the top in the $500 Small/Medium Pony Hunter Classic with her own mount, Mapleside Magic Wish. Welch put in a score of 163. Kat Fuqua (Atlanta, GA) won second place Quicksilver Bells, owned by Jet Show Stable, earning a score of 162. Parker Peacock (Winston Salem, NC) took third with mount, L.E. Remarkable, with a score of 161.

The $500 Large Pony Hunter Classic awarded Kat Fuqua (Atlanta, GA) with first place aboard her own, Prestige. The pair put in a score of 164. Wyette Felton (Milton, GA) took second with mount, Mr. Bojangles, with a score of 156. Mary Caroline Nolan (Marietta, GA) placed third with her own, Silverwood Full Sail with a score of 153.
