David O’Brien Tops $34,000 Horseware Ireland FEI 1.45m Speed Stake
“It was a nice and fair course today. There were a lot of places where you could leave out strides, which suited my horse,” said O’Brien. “I’ve been riding him for the past two months and got the ride from Shane Sweetnam and for Spy Coast Farm. I have to thank Lisa Lourie and the Spy Coast team for giving me the opportunity to compete him.”
“He knows his job when he’s in the ring. When you bring him in there he perks his ears and takes the bit. He picks up the pace and more or less if you just get him in the ring calm, he’ll take over,” he continued. “This is my first ever FEI win and it was an incredibly competitive class and I’m extremely happy with the win today.”
Abigail Mcardle and Cosma 20 finished in 2nd.
Adam Prudent and Vasco finished in 3rd.
Ronan Mcguigan and Capall Zidane had the fastest time of 64.07 seconds, but had an unfortunate rail down.
