Mill Spring, NC – August 29, 2016 – Tryon International Equestrian Center (TIEC) will host a “Celebrity Bartender Showdown” and silent auction to benefit horses, donkeys and mules through Brooke USA during the 2016 Nutrena® United States Eventing Association (USEA) American Eventing Championships (AEC) presented by Land Rover. The event is set to take place during the long-anticipated “Sounds of Nashville” Concert presented by Coca Cola® on Saturday, September 3, Brooke USA Ambassadors and Team USA Eventing members Boyd Martin and Lauren Kieffer will be joined by Bobby Costello and Brooke USA Board Member Jim Wolf to raise money and awareness for the “Buy a Donkey a Drink” campaign, which will run through the entire 2016 Tryon Fall Series.

The “Buy A Donkey A Drink” campaign will ensure lifetime access to water for 81,000 livestock animals in the drought-prone district of Shala Woreda, Ethiopia. Brooke USA is only $14,500 away from raising enough money to construct the fifth and final water trough of the campaign, and for every $9 raised, a working equine in drought-ridden Ethiopia will be provided with a lifetime water supply.

The bar area is aptly named the “The Brooke Watering Hole” and it will reflect a festive Moroccan theme, reminiscent of the Ethiopian culture Brooke USA is helping. The event celebrates the culmination of the Nutrena® USEA American Eventing Championships (AEC) presented by Land Rover, which will run from Wednesday, August 31, through Sunday, September 4.

One-of-a-kind items will be up for bidding during the silent auction, including personal items donated by the celebrity bartenders. All proceeds raised from the auction will benefit Brooke USA. Auction items include:

  • Pieces from the official 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympic Athlete Kit donated by Boyd Martin.

Each drink and all tips raised throughout the night will benefit Brooke USA.
Donations from the evening will help 13,500 working equines, which will also benefit 67,500 of the world’s poorest people who depend on them! Each water trough will allow as many as 340 horses, donkeys and mules to quench their thirst with each filling, and will allow other livestock such as cattle and camels to receive life-saving water as well.
