2017 Tryon Fall Series presented by Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport to Feature Approximately $2 Million in Combined Prize Money Alongside Four Consecutive Weeks of FEI Competition

Mill Spring, NC – July 31, 2017 – The 2017 Tryon Fall Series presented by Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport (GSP), one of the most highly anticipated consecutive competition opportunities in North America during the fall season, will feature four weeks of internationally-sanctioned FEI competition and distribute more than $1.9 million in prize money across the hunter, jumper, and equitation disciplines throughout the six week series at Tryon International Equestrian Center (TIEC). The series will begin on Friday, September 22, and continue through Sunday, October 29.

Offering 14 FEI World Ranking classes for international competitors, the Tryon Fall Series presented by GSP Airport will distribute more than $1.2 million in international show jumping competition alone, while also allocating nearly $280,000 for hunter competitors. Total prize money for jumper classes and divisions, both national and international, will reach more than $1.6 million.

The 2017 Tryon Fall Series presented by GSP Airport will begin on Friday, September 22, with the first week of competition featuring “B” rated hunter competition and USEF Level 3 jumper opportunities. A $15,000 Jumper Prix will highlight the week, alongside a $5,000 Suncast® Commercial Welcome Stake and $2,500 USHJA National Hunter Derby.

The 2017 Tryon Fall Series presented by Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport will begin on Friday, September 22, and continue through Sunday, October 29, featuring six weeks of consecutive hunter, jumper, and equitation competition.
Tryon Fall II (September 27-October 1) will increase hunter ratings, offering “AA” competition alongside USEF Level 4 show jumping classes. The first grand prix of the 2017 Tryon Fall Series, a $30,000 Grand Prix, will run alongside a $15,000 Suncasts® Commercial Welcome Stake.

The first week of FEI competition will begin during Tryon Fall III (October 4-8) featuring FEI CSI 2* competition as well as “AA” rated hunters and USEF Level 6 national show jumping classes. The week will host a $35,000 Suncast® Commercial Welcome Stake, a $35,000 Horseware® Ireland 1.45m Classic, alongside a $6,000 Nutrena® 1.40m Power & Speed. The highlight show jumping class of the week will be the $86,000 Grand Prix CSI 2*. Hunter riders will be able to contest a $5,000 USHJA National Hunter Derby.

Tryon Fall IV (October 11-15) will upgrade FEI competition, hosting the first FEI CSI 3* of the fall season, in conjunction with “AA” rated hunter classes and USEF Level 6 jumper opportunities. The week will begin with a $35,000 Horseware® Ireland 1.45m Classic, ahead of the $35,000 Suncast® Commercial Welcome Stake on Thursday, October 12. A $6,000 Nutrena® 1.40m Power & Speed class will accompany a $25,000 National Grand Prix to be hosted on the impressive Grass Complex. The $130,000 Suncast® Commercial Grand Prix CSI 3* will take to the George H. Morris Arena on the evening of Saturday, October 14. A $20,000 USHJA National Hunter Derby will emphasize major hunter opportunities during the week, while the Carolina Challenge Cup Finals will also be open for a variety of hunter divisions, both professional and amateur.

The series will also utilize the massive 12-acre Grass Complex at TIEC for both national and international show jumping classes alongside hunter opportunities.
The only FEI CSI 5* of the year at TIEC will take to the venue during Tryon Fall V (October 18-22). The week will begin with a $35,000 Power & Speed Stakes ahead of the $130,000 Suncast® Commercial Welcome Stake. A $35,000 Horseware® Ireland 1.45m Classic will be offered on the Grass Complex, alongside an $86,000 1.50m Classic. The largest grand prix of the season, the $380,000 Rolex Grand Prix CSI 5*, is set to bring top international riders from around the globe to TIEC for the monumental occasion. The week will also offer a $20,000 USHJA International Hunter Derby for hunter competitors traveling to the venue for the series. The Developing Young Horse Jumper Championship will run in conjunction with competition during the week.

The final week of the series, Tryon Fall VI (October 25-29) presented by GSP Airport, will feature the final FEI CSI 3* competition of the 2017 calendar year at the venue. Another week of “AA” rated hunter competition and USEF Level 6 jumper classes will accompany the international classes hosted during the week. A $35,000 Horseware® Ireland Speed Stakes will kick-off the weeklong competition ahead of a $35,000 Suncast® Commercial Welcome Stake. A $6,000 Nutrena® 1.40m Power & Speed Class will be offered during the week, as well as a $25,000 National Grand Prix. The week will conclude with the final “Saturday Night Lights” of the season featuring the $130,000 Greenville Spartanburg International Airport Grand Prix CSI 3*. A $25,000 Hunter Showcase will conclude competition for the series.

“Saturday Night Lights,” which draws thousands of spectators to the George H. Morris Arena every Saturday evening, will continue through the 2017 Tryon Fall Series presented by GSP Airport.
The popular “Saturday Night Lights” Series, offering free family entertainment and fun on Saturday evenings during Grand Prix competition, will commence on Saturday, September 23, and continue through the final grand prix of the 2017 Tryon Fall Series on Saturday, October 28. Carousel rides, face painting, and an array of live entertainers surround Legends Plaza during the evening.
