The Gladiators are coming! Each Gladiator Spotlight will feature one of the players who will be competing during Gladiator Polo™ presented by Coca-Cola on September 9th at the Tryon International Equestrian Center! Meet one of our Gladiators, Costi Caset, who will play for Team Asheville presented by Ingles.
Q: Where are you from originally?
A: I am originally from Santa Barbara, CA but now I live in Argentina. With polo I travel all over the place, but my home now is Argentina.
Q: When did you start playing polo?
A: I started playing when I was 5 here in Santa Barbara.
Q: What is your favorite polo pony and why?
A: My horse named Poncho because we won the Pacific Coast Open last year. It is the most important tournament on the West Coast and it is played here in Santa Barbara. Poncho also won the best polo pony last year too.
Q: Where is your favorite place to play polo?
A: In Argentina on my farm with my family.
Q: Have you ever played arena polo before?
A: Yes I played in the tryouts for Gladiator in Florida.
Q: What is the difference in field polo and arena polo?
A: Arena polo is a lot more physical and you always have someone on top of you. It is a lot more tough. You never get to play in front of that many spectators with field polo either.
Q: What are you most excited about for Gladiator Polo?
A: What I saw in Florida, it looks like a huge event with a lot of people are interested in going to watch. That is really exciting and it looks like a lot of fun.
Q: What’s your favorite drink?
A: Fernet, which is an Argentine liquor. You drink it with Coke or by itself.
Q: What song/playlist are you currently listening to on your iPhone?
A: My favorite playlist would be Rock and Roll and then my favorite song would be Alive by Pearl Jam.
Q: If you didn’t play polo what would you do instead for fun?
A: I play tennis, or I go to the beach and paddle board, or I hike.
Q: Who is your favorite superhero?
A: Batman
Q: Favorite dessert?
A: Chocolate Lava Cake
