DRESSAGE

The Dressage Gate Attendant is responsible for opening and closing the gate into the main dressage arena for each competitor. As you will be at the main arena, please dress neatly and comfortably.  Please bring a chair with you, as well as bug spray or whatever is necessary for you to have a comfortable day outside.   You will be required to use a radio (walkie-talkie) as a way of communication with the officials and show office.  You will be instructed in the use of the radio.

 

Dressage Scribes write the judge’s comments and marks for each competitor at the event.  Good writing and listening skills are required for this job.  You will be provided with all the equipment that you need the morning of the event.  You will be sitting with the judge in the judges box so please dress neatly and comfortably.  This job requires confidentiality, so you may not discuss anything that is said by the judge with anyone.

 

The Dressage Warm-Up Attendant is responsible for controlling the flow of competitors from the warm-up area to the main dressage arena.  Please bring a chair as well as bug spray or whatever you consider necessary for a comfortable day outdoors.  Please dress neatly and comfortably.  You will be required to use a radio (walkie-talkie) as a way of communication with the officials and show office.  You will be instructed in the use of the radio.

 

The Hospitality Assistant delivers drinks, snacks, etc. to stationary volunteers.

 

The Score Collector collects the score sheets from each judge and brings them to the scoring office.  This job requires a fair amount of walking, so wear comfortable shoes.

The Wheel Measurement Assistant assists the  FEI Steward with wheel measurement and records same on paperwork provided.  Should be able to stand for short periods of time and bend over to use measuring stick.  You will be required to use a radio (walkie-talkie) as a way of communication with the officials and show office.  You will be instructed in the use of the radio.

 

 

MARATHON

Timer at Start of Section A: This job requires use of a special timing clock and filling out a timecard for each competitor.  The competitor carries this card with them.  Neat handwriting is a plus.  You will be required to use a radio (walkie-talkie) as a way of communication with the officials and show office.  You will be instructed in the use of the radio.  Please bring a chair and anything you feel is necessary for your comfort outdoors all day.  Don’t forget the sunscreen!

Obstacle Hold Up Timer: Responsible for timing if a competitor is “held up” for any reason on course.  You will be required to use a stopwatch, which will be provided to you.  You will also be shown how to work the stopwatch.  There is a fair amount of standing with this position, so wear comfortable shoes.  Please bring a chair and anything you feel is necessary for your comfort outdoors all day.  Don’t forget the sunscreen!

 

The Obstacle Observer/Judge is responsible for observing the path/track that each competitor takes through the assigned driving obstacle.  You will be “briefed” the morning of the competition on what to look for.  This job requires a fair amount of standing, so wear comfortable shoes.   Please bring a chair and anything you feel is necessary for your comfort outdoors all day.  Don’t forget the sunscreen!

 

 

The Obstacle Scribe records the path or track, referred to as the “gate sequence” each competitor takes through the assigned driving obstacle on the obstacle score sheet.  Good listening and writing skills a plus.  This job requires a fair amount of standing, so wear comfortable shoes.   Please bring a chair and anything you feel is necessary for your comfort outdoors all day.  Don’t forget the sunscreen!

 

Obstacle Timer is responsible for timing each competitor in the assigned driving obstacle.  Stopwatches are used for timing and will be provided to you, and you will be instructed in their use.  You will be required to use a radio (walkie-talkie) as a way of communication with the officials and show office.

 

Vet Box Timer is responsible for timing each competitor as they enter the vet box.  Competitors are allowed 10 minutes in the vet box.  The Timer is responsible for keeping track of the time and letting the competitor know when time is up and they have to proceed to the Start of Section B.  You will be “briefed” on the procedure to use by the vet that is in the vet box the morning of the event.

 

Vet Box Scribe is responsible for writing down the temperature, pulse and respiration of each equine that comes into the vet box.  The vet takes these measurements and relays them to the scribe.  Good writing and listening skills a plus.  There is a lot of standing involved in the position, so wear comfortable shoes.

 

Vet Box Assistant helps the vet take temperatures, pulse and respiration.  Some experience with equines is a definite plus.

 

Office Assistant will assist with the scorer with filing, and other miscellaneous tasks in the show office.

 

Hospitality Assistant will deliver drinks and lunches to volunteers on marathon course.  You will be provided with a golf cart for this purpose.

 

Score Collector will be responsible for picking up score sheets from each driving obstacles and delivering them to the scoring office.  You will be provided with some form of transportation for this job, and work under the director of the Scorer.

 

 

CONES

Awards Assistant will help with the presentation of awards at the completion of the classes.

 

Cones Scribe sits with judges and keeps track of the errors on course.  The judge tells you what the errors are, you record them on a score sheet that you are required to fill out.  Good listening and writing skills a plus.

 

Cones Setters change the distance between the cones for competitors based on size of competition vehicle.  Bring a chair and anything else you need to be comfortable for a day outdoors.  You will be standing and bending to adjust the cones approximately every 4 to 5 minutes, and you should figure on about 5 – 6 hours of competition.  You will be given a measuring stick and instructed in its use to adjust the cones.  You will also have a radio (walkie-talkie) that is used by the Cones Steward to give you the correct setting for the cones.  Good listening skills are a plus.

 

Cones Timer is responsible for timing each competitor’s trip on the cones course.  You will be given a stopwatch for this purpose and instructed how to use it.

 

Hospitality Assistant delivers drinks and lunches to volunteers on course.

 

Office Assistant assists in show office with anything required.
