| I finished college at SUNY Oswego with a BS in Communications Studies. SUNY Oswego is the source of many family ties. My parents are both graduates of the college. My father is a retired professor in the Technology Department and former department Chairperson. My mother used her degree to teach countless elementary students in Oswego public and Catholic schools what it means to value education. My brother is also a graduate of the college, and now teaches in the SUCO Technology Department. SUNY Oswego is also where I was attending school when I met my wife, Kathryn. She is the mother to our two children, Kristen and Sarah, and is employed as a guidance counselor in the Central Square School District.

I have been fascinated with the science, process, and methods of communication for many years. My first real taste of communications on a professional level came when I was a young disk jockey at SUNY Potsdam back in the early 80's. I worked at the campus radio station, WRPS, at night and tried to be a computer science major in the day, (it didn't work). I still love radio, but now I spend my time, usually late at night, at the controls of several shortwave receivers. One of my favorites, pictured below, is a Grundig Satellit 800. I also make regular use of a Sangean ATS909/Radio Shack DX398. I have a small but growing collection of shortwave radios, some old, some new. If you have any laying around that you wish to get rid of, call me! When I'm not on a shortwave or aircraft band, I'm listening to old radio programs or current NPR programming on WRVO from Oswego. I spend a great deal of time on the road, and when I do, I'm an avid user of a Garmin GPS V (above) to find my way. There's nothing more incredible than traveling great distances with nothing more than a waypoint as a destination! You get to see this great country from something other than a 4-lane highway! Weather permitting, my brother and I also enjoy Geocaching. |
